The quarterfinals of the Copa América 2024

The quarterfinals of the Copa America will begin without the two CONCACAF giants; neither Mexico nor the United States will be in the finals.

The Concacaf giants, the United States and Mexico have shown that they are not at their usual level, or at least, their rivals have grown taller.

The host Team USA and El Tri, always known as the greats of CONCACAF, will not be in the quarterfinals of the Copa America, and they leave many doubts.

The reality is that Mexico and the United States disappointed by not making it past the first round when the forecasts gave them as favorites to advance.

But, on the other hand, Canada and Panama were the ones who stood up for the area and hope to continue the hard and difficult path in the Quarterfinals.

The other eliminated team was Costa Rica, but they gave a great performance; and without a doubt, Jamaica is still in the running.

Even though, mathematically, Costa Rica had a chance to sneak through on the last matchday, the miracle did not happen and they were also eliminated.

Not much was expected of Jamaica and they were quickly eliminated as one of the worst teams in the first phase.

CONCACAF’s big boys out of Copa América

The CONCACAF giants say goodbye to the Copa America with performances well below par; and the only positive thing is that it is the best demonstration to know the level with a view to the 2026 World Cup.

The quarterfinals of the Copa America without Concacaf’s big names

Mexico had a mediocre performance, it could not beat Venezuela, nor Ecuador; and its only points were against Jamaica.

In the match against Venezuela, they dominated the ball, showed off their midfield, but did not score goals.

Meanwhile, against Ecuador, they were held to a draw and had to settle for third place in Group B, out of any chance.

The Mexican national team will have to analyze its future performance.

Meanwhile, the United States had a decent performance, but failed to score; the match against Panama was key.

Despite the effort against Uruguay, the U.S. was left in debit, and like Mexico, its fans were disappointed by what they saw on the field.
