Brazilian Grand Prix Qualifying Results: Tough Luck for Checo Pérez

Max Verstappen secured pole position in the Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying, while Checo Pérez could only manage ninth place.

In a rain-affected Q3, the Aston Martin drivers had a stroke of luck as they managed to secure third and fourth places. Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc will start alongside Verstappen on the front row.

For Checo Pérez, the Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying was a mix of disappointment and hope. Although he posted good lap times, rain hampered his attempts to secure a top position in the Q3.

The Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying took place on Friday, November 3, with the sprint race scheduled for Saturday.

Brazilian Grand Prix Qualifying Results

In the first Q, George Russell posted the fastest time, with Red Bull’s drivers slightly behind. However, Max Verstappen ended up with the second-best time.

The start of the weekend wasn’t comfortable for Checo Pérez, who struggled to achieve strong results and qualified with the thirteenth-best time. He even had to abort his final attempt but managed to progress to Q2.

The first part of the Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying, Q1, saw Yuki Tsunoda, Daniel Ricciardo, Valtteri Bottas, Logan Sargeant, and Guanyu Zhou eliminated.

In Q2, Max Verstappen set the early pace, while Russell, Oscar Piatri, and Lando Norris also posted competitive times. Ferrari’s drivers were in the mix. Checo Pérez fought hard to secure a place in the final qualifying session.

Fernando Alonso faced challenges at the start of qualifying, and Lando Norris improved his lap time to lead the session, with Checo Pérez securing third place in Q2.

Eliminated from Q2 were Niko Hülkenberg, the Alpine drivers, Kevin Magnussen, and Alex Albon.

In the final session, under the threat of rain, Max Verstappen set the benchmark time, with Charles Leclerc in second place.

An incident involving Oscar Piastri, who went off the track, caused yellow flags and coincided with the onset of rain. This affected Checo Pérez’s speed, and he could do no better than ninth place.

A storm hit the Interlagos circuit in Brazil, bringing an end to Q3, and it was tough luck for Mexican driver Checo Pérez.

Lewis Hamilton will start from fifth place, and the battle for the second position in the championship intensifies with only three races remaining.
