Free summer meals program for children under 18 continues in New York

The free summer meals program for children under 18 continues in New York as part of social crusades in the Big Apple.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the New York City Department of Education will work together to provide free summer meals for children under the age of 18.

Through the “Free Summer Meals” program, free breakfasts and lunches will be provided at parks, schools, swimming pools, libraries and food trucks located in all five boroughs of the City.

Children will still be able to enjoy breakfast and lunch as part of New York’s Free Summer Meals program, which is provided to anyone under the age of 18 from June 27 through August 30.

The free summer meals program in New York for children under the age of 18 is part of the programming during school vacations.

Interested individuals can find these meals at specific locations, such as select New York City public schools, community pool centers, parks and libraries.

The best part is that you don’t need to register, show any documents or have an ID to receive these meals. Just head to one of our locations and enjoy a delicious breakfast and lunch.

When does the program start

Thursday, June 27, 2024 – Friday, August 30, 2024

Food Truck Service

  • 7 days a week
  • 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. weekdays
  • 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p. m. weekends
  • Manhattan: Sara D. Roosevelt Park
  • Brooklyn: Prospect Park (location to be determined)

On the other hand, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) launched the SUN program where it offers low-income children’s summer food assistance to children in New Jersey.

The Sun Bucks program provides a $120 electronic food transfer for each eligible school-age child.

Qualifying children are those who are eligible for free or reduced-price school meals and attend a school that participates in the National School Lunch Program.

If the household has an income of less than $3,833 per month for a family of 3, you may also apply.
