For many, artificial intelligence, luxury and geopolitical trends helped the billionaires club in the world to have more members.
This club of billionaires in the world are those with fortunes of more than USD 100 billion and reaches a record 15 members.
The combined net worth of these individuals has increased by 13% this year to USD 2.2 trillion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
The rate of growth outpaces inflation and the stock market in general, and between them they hold nearly a quarter of the fortune of the world’s 500 richest people.
Leading the world’s billionaire club is LVMH founder and CEO Bernard Arnault, 75, with a net worth of USD 222 billion.

Most of his fortune comes from his stake in the world’s largest luxury goods manufacturer.
Amazon.com Inc founder Jeff Bezos, 60, ranks second with a net worth of USD 208 billion.

Elon Musk, 52, has a net worth of USD 187 billion and ranks third in the billionaires’ club index of billionaires in the world.
His wealth, which has fallen by more than USD 40 billion this year, comes mainly from his stake in Tesla.
Elon Musk, who co-founded six companies, including automotive Tesla and aerospace SpaceX, and bought social network Twitter (renamed X) in October 2022.
While all of them had once surpassed the USD 100 billion barrier, this is the first time they have done so at the same time.
L’Oréal SA heiress Françoise Bettencourt Meyers, Dell Technologies Inc. founder Michael Dell and Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim all initially reached the threshold in the last five months and some have fluctuated around that level to become part of the world’s billionaire club.
Meanwhile, Bettencourt Meyers in December became the first woman to amass a 12-figure fortune, after the luxury cosmetics company’s shares recorded their best year since 1998.
Bettencourt Meyers, 70, ranks 14th in the index, with a net worth of USD 101 billion.
Dell, 59, also recently surpassed the $100 billion mark. Demand for artificial intelligence-related equipment has driven Dell Technologies’ stock price to record highs. It now ranks 11th in Bloomberg’s index, with a fortune of $113 billion.
Slim, 84, ranks 13th with $106 billion. Latin America’s richest person added some USD 28 billion to his net worth in 2023, largely because the booming Mexican peso has boosted the shares of the companies that make up his business empire, which range from construction to restaurants to retail.
There are also old names returning to the world’s billionaire club.
Gautam Adani, 61, recently returned to the select group after a bout of short-sellers caused him to lose more wealth than anyone else in 2023.
Shares of his flagship Adani Enterprises Ltd. rose as global investors have turned their attention back to his Indian business.
The United States is the country with the largest number of millionaires: it has a record 813 billionaires, with a combined value of $5.7 trillion.
