Today, he continues to lend his voice to various characters, in addition to working on some projects for social media and TV.
The Life of Chris Kattan
Chris Kattan was born in Sherman Oaks, California, to a Hungarian mother; he was only three years old when his parents divorced.
He grew up near Los Angeles with his mother and stepfather, living a life that allowed him to visit his father, Kip King, on weekends.
Kip King was an actor who provided the voice for Tailor Smurf on the popular Saturday morning cartoon The Smurfs and was an original member of The Groundlings (an improvisation and sketch comedy troupe). During his visits, Kattan enjoyed watching his father rehearse with The Groundlings.
In his education, Kattan attended high school in Seattle, where he acted in several school plays. We could say that this was the beginning of Chris Kattan’s journey into movies and television.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Kattan returned to the Los Angeles area to join The Groundlings while studying acting and directing at California State University, Northridge.
He later performed in live theater productions while attending university.
In that space, he managed to get the opportunity of a lifetime, one that made a name for him in the tough environment of Hollywood.

Chris Kattan movies and TV shows: SNL
Without a doubt, Chris Kattan movies and TV shows had their start with the popular TV program. While still in college, Chris was discovered by a producer from Saturday Night Live, and in 1996, he joined the many actors who have been a part of this show.
On Saturday Night Live, Kattan created many memorable characters, including Roxbury Guy, the half-monkey Mr. Peepers; Suel Forrester, the nonsensical talker; Azrael Abyss, the co-host of the fictional cable show “Goth Talk”; one half of the sex-crazed and often misunderstood couple, the Zimmermans (with Cheri Oteri); and the enigmatic exotic dancer, Mango.
In this way, his charisma and how he was perceived by the audience grew stronger, opening up opportunities for him in film and television.
Kattan stayed on SNL until 2003, and today he is considered one of the most popular members the show has ever had. Not bad for a young actor who got his first opportunity in March of 1996.
It’s incredible to think that his head movement became so popular that he was often invited to commercials just to do it in his natural and comedic way.
Film Roles
Chris Kattan movies and TV shows clearly began with A Night at the Roxbury in 1998. In the movie, Steve (Ferrell) and Doug (Kattan) are two brothers who want to succeed in Los Angeles nightlife by becoming important figures and opening their own club. But to achieve this, they must get on the guest list at the Roxbury, a very exclusive club.
Before that, he had a role in The Making of ‘…And God Spoke’, a not very notable production that allowed him to take his first steps.
In this film, he had great chemistry with his co-star, who went on to achieve more success in the film industry—Will Ferrell.
Among Chris Kattan’s movies and TV shows, one must mention House on Haunted Hill from 1999.
House on Haunted Hill is the title of a horror movie directed in 1999 by American director William Malone.
This film is a remake of the 1959 movie of the same name, directed by William Castle and starring Vincent Price.
In this movie, Kattan plays Pritchett, the owner of the house that is the focus of the film. It was not a well-received movie and was heavily criticized; in the film, the hosts discover the first surprise: the expected guests are not who they seem, but rather a completely different group of people who must navigate a series of deadly traps.
In The Ridiculous 6, an Adam Sandler movie, Kattan plays John Wilkes Booth in a very brief appearance.
