But it wasn’t all pro-Trump on JD Vance’s profile as he gave ‘likes’ in 2016 and 2017 to tweets that harshly criticized Trump and his policies, including one that speculated that Vance might serve in the administration of former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, CNN confirmed.
Other tweets that Vance marked as ‘likes’ said Trump committed “serial sexual assault,” the senator described the then-candidate “one of America’s idiotic, villainous, most hated celebrities.”
Vance succeeded in winning Trump’s support in the 2022 Ohio Republican Senate primary after a sustained yearlong effort by Vance to adopt a new image as a leading advocate for the MAGA platform.
In a show of loyalty, Vance was one of several potential running mates and Republican lawmakers who stood by Trump’s side in a New York courtroom during his criminal trial for hush money payments.
