Thousands of homes without electricity in Houston after the passage of Hurricane Beryl; despite the days after the storm, the energy emergency remains in the Texan city.
The recovery work of the power lines in the Houston area after the passage of Hurricane Beryl continues at full speed by the teams provided by Centerpoint.
This Wednesday, electricity service was restored to the first million customers affected by the strong winds that swept through the metropolitan area last Monday.
However, thousands of homes without electricity in Houston, putting many sectors of the main urban area of Texas in trouble.
In the aftermath of the hurricane, more than 1.1 million customers lost electricity service distributed by Centerpoint.
This is in addition to those customers under Entergy in the northern part of the metropolitan area.
Multiple damages to power lines led to the collapse of the grid that feeds most of the Houston metropolitan area.
“We are committed to working at full speed to restore service as quickly and safely as possible and have mobilized nearly 12,000 resources to support this process,” the company said in a communication to the public Monday afternoon.

One of the priorities for service restoration efforts involves customers who provide health and safety services.
Thousands of homes without electricity in Houston continue to report being without power, especially those that rely on Centerpoint.
However, it is estimated that there will be thousands of people without power for several days.
Centerpoint is encouraging customers on the Power Alert Service system through which they can receive details and updates on the restoration process.
While Gov. Greg Abbott is on a business trip to Asia, the acting governor fielded a series of direct questions about the emergency response as thousands of homes without power depended on CenterPoint.

Hurricane Beryl left 2.2 million Texans without power this week.
As of Friday morning, July 12, more than 877,000 CenterPoint customers in the homes without electricity in Houston.
