Starting this month, owners of cars with serial numbers starting with letters can initiate the regularization process, which has a cost of 2,500 Mexican pesos. An important aspect is that the intervention of intermediaries or customs agents is not required for this procedure.

To date, around 1.9 million vehicles have been regularized. States where this process can be carried out include Baja California, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, Durango, San Luis Potosí, Baja California Sur, Nuevo León, Nayarit, Sonora, Zacatecas, Tamaulipas, Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Michoacán, Jalisco, and Coahuila.

The funds collected will be allocated to improving roadways in these entities. In addition, significant updates in the regularization process for “chocolate” cars have been announced.

Starting from December 1, 2023, it will be possible to regularize vehicles with serial numbers beginning with letters from the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia, as long as they are not reported stolen or linked to any criminal activity.

The continuation of this program aims to simplify the process and prevent the use of vehicles for illicit activities.
