Joe Biden withdraws from presidential re-election bid
After several weeks of rumors about the candidacy, it was finally announced that Joe Biden is withdrawing as a presidential hopeful.
President Joe Biden said he is not running for re-election, in a letter sent to X on his official account.
Biden says he will speak to the nation later this week in more detail.
After several weeks of pressure, following his disastrous performance in the debate with his opponent, former President Donald Trump, Biden changed his position and finally leaves the race that has gained drama, marked by the attack on Saturday, July 13 against the former president.
There were many voices calling for the president to leave the race, from prominent Democratic legislator Adam Schiff to important campaign donors, such as actor George Clooney, as well as the editorial board of The New York Times.
