The second season of House of the Dragon: The war is here
The second season of House of the Dragon is here, the war is here, and the houses bidding for the iron throne will clash.
While the first season of “House of the Dragon” focuses on introducing the characters of the story that takes place 200 years before “Game of Thrones”.
In the previews of the second installment of House of the Dragon, they show the preparation towards a civil war that will occupy a central place in the plot.
Once again, the battle for the throne will pit Queen Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy), her uncle-husband Daemon (Matt Smith) and their various forces against Rhaenyra’s childhood friend Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and her children (who happen to be Rhaenyra’s half-siblings), one of whom, Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney), claims his late father’s mantle.
Fans of the “Game of Thrones” prequel will get to see a new installment in which “strategy often takes a back seat to revenge and thrills,” says CNN’s Brian Lowry in his review of the new season.
“Westeros is on the brink of a bloody civil war with the Green and Black Councils fighting for King Aegon and Queen Rhaenyra, respectively,” according to a description published in March.
The second season of “House of the Dragon,” a prequel series to “Game of Thrones,” will begin this Sunday and can be seen on the MAX platform; it will have 8 episodes that will be released each week.
House of the Dragon Season 2 Broadcasting
The second season of House of Dragon will have the following schedule:
- Episode 1: June 16
- Episode 2: June 23
- Episode 3: June 30
- Episode 4: July 7
- Episode 5: July 14
- Episode 6: July 21
- Episode 7: July 28
- Episode 8: August 4
According to MAX, the premiere time for the first episode next Sunday will be:
- United States: 9 pm ET
- Mexico: 7 pm
- Colombia: 8 pm
- Ecuador: 8 pm
- Venezuela: 9 pm
- Argentina: 10 pm
- Spain: 3 am (Monday)

MAX, formerly HBO, which is owned by CNN parent company Warner Bros. Discovery, released the official trailer for the upcoming season in May.

Two previous previews for the new season highlighted the civil war that takes center stage in this upcoming episode: “Westeros is on the brink of a bloody civil war with the Green and Black Councils fighting for King Aegon and Queen Rhaenyra, respectively,” read a description.
In addition, MAX announced Thursday that House Targaryen’s Dance of the Dragons will continue with a third season.
The TV series debuted in 2022 and attracted millions of viewers in its first season.
The final episode of season 1 garnered 9.3 million viewers, marking “the biggest night for an HBO series finale since ‘Game of Thrones‘” in May 2019, according to network information.
“House of the Dragon,” based on George RR Martin’s “Fire & Blood” book saga, tells the story of House Targaryen and is set 200 years before the events of the popular “Game of Thrones” series, which ended in 2019.
