A Texas park shooting left two dead and several wounded Saturday, June 15, 2024, authorities reported.

The victims were shot shortly before 11:00 p.m. Saturday during a Juneteenth celebration at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, about 19 miles north of Austin, in Texas park shooting

The shooting at a Texas park began with an altercation between two groups during a concert at the event and someone started shooting, Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks told a news conference at the scene.

The two people pronounced dead in the same park were not involved in the initial dispute, Allen said.

The shooting occurred near a stall area away from the concert stage, he said.

Police officers and fire department personnel attending the event provided emergency medical care to the multiple injured, who were transported to area hospitals, he added.

No suspects were in custody and investigators do not know how many shooters were involved.

Allen Banks, Round Rock police chief, provided information about the shooting in a Texas park, and held a press conference to report on the events.

He noted that the suspects have not been identified, but authorities are working to respond to the case. Police indicated that the exact number of shooters involved remains uncertain.

Six injured people were transported to local hospitals with potentially serious injuries, according to emergency response officials, ABC News reported.

Austin-Travis County EMS confirmed that four adults and two children received care at trauma centers.

Scheduled activities at the park for Sunday morning were canceled as a result of the tragic event, Banks said.

However, the park is expected to reopen in the afternoon for Father’s Day activities.
