Checo Pérez’s motivation in the Mexican Grand Prix
Checo Pérez’s motivation in Mexico is undeniable – winning at home is unquestionably a goal this Sunday.
However, Checo Pérez’s motivation must be channeled with great determination to secure a top spot in the pole position. It’s no longer the beginning of the season when Red Bull dominated from start to finish.
To reach this goal, Checo Pérez must have a strong qualifying performance. Beyond all else, Checo Pérez is motivated for the Mexican Grand Prix and aims to return to the podium in a big way with a victory this weekend at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
The Mexican has been going through a rough patch, and in the last race, he achieved a fourth-place finish after Lewis Hamilton’s disqualification.
Nevertheless, the driver from Guadalajara states that he has gradually regained his rhythm, and the primary objective for winning is to start from the front row.
“I believe we have to be on the front row for the race and attack to achieve the goal from the very first lap.
The most important thing would be to be number one,” the Mexican driver declared. Checo added that “a very good race here will make everything else fade away.”
But Checo Pérez’s motivation also has its sights set on the second place in the driver’s world championship, with a clear adversary: Lewis Hamilton.
Regarding this, Checo pointed out that he could secure that position with a podium finish at his home race.
“Right now, the important thing is to start having good races. The last four haven’t been good, and returning to the podium is the priority and opening up a gap.
There are four races left, and now we are focused on Mexico, which is the most important for me,” he stated.
“I closed the gap in Austin (compared to Max), and we made real progress, and I hope to repeat it this weekend. After Qatar, the engineers did an analysis, and I committed fully to the car,” he declared.
The most important thing for Checo Pérez at this moment is to concentrate.
“I have focused on what I can control, what I can change, and not waste time on the rest,” he concluded.

Checo Pérez’s motivation: His podiums in Mexico
Sergio Pérez secured his first podium in the 2021 edition. Checo Pérez had spent 10 seasons in Formula 1 and finally had the opportunity to race in a competitive car with Red Bull.
The driver from Guadalajara started in fourth place and took advantage of the collision between Valtteri Bottas and Daniel Ricciardo in the first corner to move up to third, a position he never relinquished.
For the first time, a Mexican driver stood on the podium in front of the Foro Sol crowd.
In 2022, the Mexican once again finished in third place after starting in fourth and overtaking George Russell at the start.
In both editions, his teammate Max Verstappen claimed victory, while Lewis Hamilton finished second in the last two races on Mexican soil.
For this edition, Checo Pérez enters the Mexican Grand Prix in the midst of a poor run with the Red Bull team.
Despite achieving 8 podiums this year, the Mexican has missed out on the top 10 qualifiers 9 times and has only scored 17 points in the last four races.
Currently, Checo Pérez sits in second place in the driver’s championship with 240 points. The Mexican holds a 39-point advantage over his closest rival, Lewis Hamilton, with four races remaining in the calendar.
