Shooting outside Drake’s home: Suspects?
Police in Canada are investigating a shooting outside Drake’s home on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, in which a man was seriously injured.
Police inspector Paul Krawczyk said a security guard was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the shooting, which occurred before dawn at 02H09 local time (06H09 GMT).
Following the shooting outside Drake’s home, the sprawling property remained cordoned off.
According to some accounts of the shooting outside Drake’s home, the guard was standing outside the gates in front of the residence when the incident occurred, Krawczyk told reporters.
The shooting was captured on grainy security camera footage, but has not been released to the public.
“I cannot confirm whether Drake was home at the time the incident occurred, but I can tell you that we are in contact with his team and they are cooperating,” the inspector added.
Following the shooting outside Drake’s home, a suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, authorities reported, but no description has been provided.
Police cordoned off much of the area upon arrival at the scene because of the shooting in front of Drake’s home. Several small orange marks, believed to indicate the location of shell casings, could be seen on the roadside.

Drake, 37, known for hits such as “God’s Plan” and “Hotline Bling,” was the world’s highest-earning rapper last year.
In recent days, the Canadian has been embroiled in a lyrical war with Kendrick Lamar, in which the artists exchange controversial lyrics with accusations of pedophilia, abuse and infidelity that have drawn public attention beyond the hip hop scene.
Fights are nothing new in this genre of music, known for the flaunting of its artists and fierce battles between its greatest exponents.
There was no indication that the shooting in front of Drake’s house had any relation to the battle between the rappers.
The shooting comes amid a spat between Drake and Lamar that has seen the pair exchange strong accusations in diss tracks released in recent weeks.
Lamar has accused Drake of having affairs with underage women and having a secret daughter, which Drake denied before claiming that he and his team gave Lamar purposely false information.
Lamar’s most recent single, a song titled “Not Like Us” that was released Saturday night, used a Google Maps image of Drake’s $100 million property as the cover.
The inclusion prompted some fans to tag the home’s location on Google Maps as “Kendrick’s Property,” but the name has since been removed. Other tags placed on the house included “CertifiedKidLover,” “Kendrick’s Pool” and “ChildMOE-lester.”

Drake frequently posts photos of his sprawling Canadian mansion and has rapped about life in Bridle Path, his wealthy Toronto neighborhood, for years, including a song called “7AM on Bridle Path.”
In 2020, the estate was featured in Architectural Digest.
Shooting across the street from Drake’s home, it is a high-society, mansion-like estate that includes an NBA regulation-size indoor basketball court, a custom-made Bösendorfer concert grand piano, 44-foot ceilings and a chandelier made from more than 20,000 pieces of hand-cut Swarovski crystal.
The master bedroom is 3200 square feet, 50% larger than the average Canadian home , with nightstands that include mother-of-pearl inlays, Alexander McQueen-patterned bedding and a 4,000-pound faceted black marble bathtub.
