23 years later: Lola Glaudini denounced Johnny Depp for mistreatment
23 years after the event, Lola Glaudini denounced Johnny Depp for mistreatment during the shooting of a movie in 2001.
Lola Glaudini, actress known for her work in Criminal Minds, revealed a disturbing experience she had with Johnny Depp.
Lola Glaudini denounced Johnny Depp for mistreatment during the shooting of the 2001 film Blow.
Glaudini shared her story on the podcast Powerful Truth Angels, where she detailed for the first time an incident in which Depp yelled at her in front of the entire cast and crew on set.
Lola Glaudini denounced Johnny Depp for mistreatment and specified that the incident happened on the first day of filming Blow.
According to Lola Glaudini, she had not yet met Depp personally.
The scene consisted of laughing and passing a marijuana cigarette in the background while Depp performed a long monologue.
After a couple of takes, director Ted Demme came over and gave him the cue to burst out laughing at a certain point in Depp’s monologue. Following Demme’s instructions, Glaudini performed as requested, prompting Depp to react aggressively against the actress.
“I hear the signal, I burst out laughing. Johnny Depp, when they say ‘cut,’ he walks towards me, and he comes towards me and points his finger right in my face and I was in a bikini on the floor, like this. And he comes up to me and says ‘Who the fuck do you think you are, who the fuck do you think you are, shut the fuck up!’ I’m coming out here trying to say my fucking lines and you are breaking my concentration. You fucking idiot,” explained the actress to the astonished gaze of the podcast host, Alex/2Tone.

Lola recalled that the director didn’t even have the tact to explain to Johnny that he had instructed her to laugh at a specific moment of her monologue, in addition, she reiterated how traumatic this experience was as it was her first role in a big Hollywood production, besides the fact that it was Johnny Depp, whom she admired so much, who insulted her.
“First day on the set. I didn’t know him. This is my first studio movie, I had only done indies until then. And the star who I’ve idolized, who I’m so excited to work with, blew up in my face. The only thing going through my head was, ‘Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry,'” she said.

The incident had negative consequences for Glaudini, as the actress was treated like a pariah by everyone on the set for approximately five or six hours, a situation that led her to take refuge in her trailer and cry.
After talking to her father, she decided to confront the situation and continue on the project. Depp later approached her trailer to offer her what Glaudini described as a “non-apology,” arguing that she was “very much in over her head” because of the Boston accent she was trying to use for her character.
