Here’s the Medal Standings for the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago

As the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago approach their conclusion in a few days, the medal standings remain unchanged in the top positions.

The United States continues to lead the medal standings, with Brazil in second place and Canada in third. Mexico is the highest-ranked Spanish-speaking team.

The global sports powerhouse added four more gold medals on Tuesday, increasing their lead over the rest of the field.

Currently, the United States has 85 gold medals and is on track to win the Pan American Games, as they have done in 16 of the 18 previous editions (they did not win in Buenos Aires 1951 and La Habana 1991).

Brazil remains in second place with 40 gold medals, but the surprise is Mexico, which has displaced Canada from the podium.

At this moment, Mexico has 36 gold medals, one more than Canada, which is in third place. In fifth place is Colombia with 15 gold medals, and sixth is Cuba with 14 gold medals.

It promises to be a closely contested battle for the third-place position, and Mexico will strive to secure a spot on the medal podium at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago.

In the last edition in Lima 2019, the United States finished at the top and was the only country to reach triple digits in total medals, with 293 in total, including 122 gold, 87 silver, and 84 bronze. They were followed by Brazil, Mexico, Canada, and Argentina.

In the overall history of the Pan American Games medal standings, the United States has accumulated 4,713 total medals, with 2,066 gold medals prior to this event. Cuba is second in that ranking with 2,126 total medals (908 gold), followed by Canada with 2,067 total medals (491 gold), Brazil with 1,373 total medals (383 gold), and Argentina with 1,160 total medals (327 gold).

Rounding out the top 10 are Mexico (1,149 total medals, with 258 gold), Colombia (566 total medals, including 135 gold), Venezuela (618 total medals, with 102 gold), Chile (336 total medals, including 57 gold), and the Dominican Republic (244 total medals, with 40 gold).”.
