Jaime Lozano faced criticism for initially benching Santi Giménez to give Raúl Jiménez playing time and for continuing to start Guillermo Ochoa instead of Malagón, Rodríguez, or González.
However, the coach’s gamble paid off, as Jiménez and Ochoa provided composure to young players like Erick Sánchez and the defensive duo of Montes and Vásquez.
