Claudia Sheinbaum Urges the Formation of Transformation Defense Committees in Mexico
Presidential hopeful Claudia Sheinbaum stated that she will never betray President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s project and called for the creation of Transformation Defense Committees.
Sheinbaum received the certificate as the National Coordinator of the Transformation Defense Committees of the Labor Party (PT).
Regarding this, Sheinbaum mentioned that Morena, the Labor Party, and the Green Party should work together to win the 2024 elections.
During the Extraordinary Session of the National Executive Committee of the PT, the virtual presidential candidate proposed that PT members organize themselves similarly to the way the Transformation Defense Committees are formed.
“We will not betray our project or the legacy of President Andrés Manuel López, but for that to happen, we must organize ourselves.
Peaceful revolution is achieved through organizations. I make a proposal to the PT. In Morena, we are forming Defense Committees to keep moving forward.
These committees are not tied to a political party but to a social movement that must be organized and mobilized,” stated the former Mexico City mayor.
Furthermore, Sheinbaum emphasized that the defense of the transformation must continue to deepen, and she called for efforts to win the presidency of the Republic, the Senate, the Chamber of Deputies, governorships, as well as municipal presidencies and mayoralties.
During the event, Mario Delgado, the national leader of Morena, highlighted that the polls overwhelmingly supported Claudia Sheinbaum as the National Coordinator of the Transformation Defense Committees.
Transformation Defense Committees in Mexico
The Transformation Defense Committees, also known as the 4T Committees, are responsible for spreading, organizing, overseeing, and mobilizing the project proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his vision to transform Mexico.
They advocate for the involvement of citizens in the social transformation process initiated with MORENA’s victory in 2018.
The fundamental idea behind the committees is that the Fourth Transformation (4T) is a government policy based on five core action areas: legality and anti-corruption efforts, poverty reduction, peace restoration, financial viability, gender equality, and sustainable development.
