Simone Biles’ big comeback: She wins another Olympic gold
Simone Biles’ big comeback puts her among the biggest names in the Olympics, and what better place than Paris, the City of Light.
Celebrity attendance was once again part of the event at a raucous Bercy Arena for the grand return of Simone Biles, who led the dominant U.S. women’s gymnastics team to the Olympic title on Tuesday night.
Three years after withdrawing from the team gymnastics final, Simone Biles was alone once again at the Olympics.
The beginning of Simone Biles’ big comeback couldn’t have been better, as she was the last gymnast of the night, took the stage and won gold for Team USA.
After years of trying to relive that night in Tokyo, the first notes of a Taylor Swift song rang out in the Bercy Arena to start her routine.
Her typically magical combination of grace, power and speed resulted in an iconic moment that will live on in gymnastics and Olympic history. She pulled it all off. Even when she stumbled a bit, she didn’t stop.
Simone Biles puts on an impressive performance in her Olympic comeback despite her calf injury
It was a memorable performance under the brightest of lights for a performer who has faced more scrutiny than any normal human being could endure.
But what Biles lacks in height, she more than makes up for in heart and, after years of therapy and working on herself, mental toughness.
Her teammate Jordan Chiles jumped for joy after that jump for the same reason.

Simone Biles’ big comeback: She wins another Olympic gold
From the moment she entered the Bercy Arena on Sunday until Tuesday’s medal ceremony, Biles was the most watched person in the City of Light.
Her every step was closely watched, even more so after a moment during warm-ups for the floor in Sunday’s qualification when she aggravated a calf injury she first felt a couple of weeks ago.
Simone Biles’ big comeback was with great effort: she qualified for the individual all-around final and the individual balance beam, vault and floor competitions.
Spectator concern led to fears that Biles would again suffer the problems of Tokyo.
Biles showed no signs of the calf injury during the team final on Tuesday, July 30.
Whether it was the adrenaline rush or because the pain had truly dissipated in the Parisian heat, Biles – at 27, the oldest American to win an Olympic medal in gymnastics and now the most decorated American gymnast of all time at the Games.
Clutching the floor apparatus, eyes fixed on the giant screen at Bercy Arena, Biles had to know she had done enough to win gold.
But when the score appeared -14.666, more than enough to win the gold medal.
Thus was the great comeback of Simone Biles, a girl who will be an example for the next generations around the world in the discipline of gymnastics.
