Rapper Fatman Scoop died in the middle of a performance
Rapper Fatman Scoop died after a medical emergency he suffered while on stage during a concert in Connecticut on Friday, August 30.
The news was confirmed by his manager on Saturday.
Born Isaac Freeman III, rapper Fatman Scoop, 53, was closing out Hamden’s summer concert series when he collapsed on stage.
Rapper Fatman Scoop, a New York City native, was best known for his long career as a radio personality and hip-hop entertainer.
One of his biggest hits was the 1999 track “Be Faithful.” He also had guest appearances on Missy Elliott’s “Lose Control” and Mariah Carey’s “It’s Like That.”
Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett said Fatman Scoop was taken by ambulance to the hospital after collapsing in the middle of his performance.
“Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers,” she wrote.
Rapper Fatman Scoop’s tour manager, Birch Michael, confirmed Freeman’s death Saturday morning.
“I am honestly lost for words… You took me all over the world and had me performing alongside you on some of the biggest and greatest stages on this planet, the things you taught me have truly made me the man I am today,” he wrote on Instagram.

Rapper Fatman Scoop died in the middle of a performance
Rapper Fatman Scoop known for his hits “Be Faithful” and “It Takes Scoop,” collapsed Friday while performing on stage in Hamden, Connecticut state, and was taken to the hospital but doctors were unable to revive him, U.S. media reported.

‘I said make some noise, Hamden!’ Fatman Scoop shouted again. Then, the hip-hop artist walks up the stairs to the DJ booth, as he appears to gasp into the microphone.
Behind the booth, he looks out at the crowd and tries to get them excited. The spotlight dances around the stage.
“If you come to the party,” the rapper says before taking a long pause. He is seen leaning forward. “Make some noise,” he added, slurring his words.
As soon as he finished speaking, he falls to the ground, dropping the microphone.
Screams of terror and gasps of horror can be heard from the audience.
On stage, rapper Fatman Scoop’s co-stars were trying to calm the terrified crowd by addressing them.
