To apply, you must bring the following documents with you to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority job fair
- Your Social Security card.
- Your driver’s license and proof of commercial driver’s license or permit.
- A New York State driver’s license valid for at least three years and commercial driver’s license or permit (Class A or B with passenger authorization and no restrictions), or
- A Connecticut, New Jersey or Pennsylvania driver’s license valid for at least three years and a commercial driver’s license (Class A or B with passenger authorization and no restrictions), or
- All other state licenses: driver’s license valid for at least three years and commercial driver’s license (Class A or B with passenger authorization and no restrictions) plus a physical copy of the recent driving abstract.
Disqualified for this job:
You will not be considered for a bus operator position if your driving record has or has ever had:
Six or more driver infraction points within the last three years, regardless of point reduction for defensive driving, or.

Three or more accidents within 12 months prior to the date of designation.
The agency recommends resolving any outstanding moving violations prior to submitting the application. Pending traffic violations will be considered during the application process. Those who are not processed the same day will receive a future appointment.
New York City Bus Operator Wages
The current minimum wage for the position of bus operator is $26.19 per hour and increases to $37.42 in the sixth year.
It also includes the benefit of a transportation pass. These rates are subject to change.
