Marcelo Ebrard will appeal to the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch
Marcelo Ebrard will appeal to the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of Mexico because he believes that the MORENA party is not taking action in the review of the polls to decide the party’s candidate.
In this regard, Claudia Sheinbaum was elected as the candidate according to the system chosen by the party.
The National Council of MORENA decided that their presidential candidacy would be determined through surveys.
The results were announced, but Marcelo Ebrard will appeal to the Electoral Tribunal because he does not trust the mechanism used.
Ebrard went to the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judicial Branch (TEPJF) to complain about the lack of action on the part of the party’s Commission of Honor and Justice.
Ebrard Casaubón argued that his political-electoral rights are being violated since he has not received a response to the complaint he filed on September 10th.
In a statement, Ebrard stated that it is necessary for the magistrates to request the party to review his appeal and to conduct the survey again.
“The lawsuit asks the Tribunal to order the Commission to admit the annulment lawsuit and subsequently restart the internal process of MORENA for the election of the Coordination of the Defense of Transformation,” he noted.
Marcelo Ebrard will appeal to the Electoral Tribunal ¿Why?
The former foreign minister argued that MORENA is violating his political-electoral rights by not responding within the deadlines set by the Supreme Court itself, which in a previous ruling from 2001 ordered MORENA to respond within a maximum period of five days regarding the admission of complaints filed by members.
Within his appeal to the party committee, he included a complaint that the Survey Commission sought to favor Claudia Sheinbaum.
Furthermore, Marcelo Ebrard will appeal to the electoral tribunal because he believes there is no clarity in the results.
Amidst the conflict, Marcelo Ebrard has formed a new civil association called ‘El Camino de México,‘ referring to the book of the same name that he published in March.
Ebrard emphasized that the announced group is not a political party.
The former foreign minister announced a nationwide tour in which he will meet with those who supported him in the MORENA survey.
