Kate del Castillo protested against bullfighting

Kate del Castillo protested against bullfighting, considering it an act of cruelty against the animals, in addition to the cases of injured people.

Del Castillo raised her voice against bullfighting and was deeply moved when recalling what a bull must have suffered last Sunday at the Plaza de Toros México when, during a bullfight, a bull that attempted to be killed by a failed matador was dragged out of the arena dying.

Kate, who is part of PETA’s campaign to eradicate bullfighting worldwide, once again spoke out against a situation that she believes denigrates Mexico and is extremely cruel to animals.

Kate del Castillo has been protesting against bullfighting for several years and has garnered many followers in this fight.

Kate del Castillo protested against bullfighting at the same time as a collegiate court in Mexico City decided to revoke the suspension of bullfights at the Plaza México.

Despite Kate del Castillo’s protest against bullfighting, united with a large movement, this Friday, February 2nd, the Collegiate Court of Mexico City finally revoked the provisional suspension that prevented the events at the Monumental from taking place.

Thus, the events scheduled for Sunday, February 4th, and Monday, February 5th, will go ahead. This decision was announced just a couple of hours after a judge admitted the complaint from the company managing the venue against the provisional suspension filed by a group of activists.

This decision settles, for now, the controversy surrounding the two upcoming anniversary dates of the arena.
Last Sunday, January 28th, 2024, 42,000 people filled the world’s largest bullring to witness the first bullfight after more than 600 days of prohibition due to an injunction filed against the Plaza México by the association Justicia Justa.

In a video, Kate spoke out against bullfighting, stating that there are more reasons to celebrate than the death of a living being in the midst of cruelty and torture.

“Bullfights are a stain on Mexico, on the country’s reputation where I was born, where I grew up, and once they end, I am sure that we all have a more celebratory path, and all of this will become history,” she commented.

Kate del Castillo protested against bullfighting and applauded the fact that almost 60% of the people who are against bullfighting signed a petition to stop this “bloodbath” at the Plaza de Toros México.

Kate reiterated that it is regrettable that some people enjoy a “grotesque spectacle” and spoke in favor of animals and their right to not be tortured.

“Every animal is someone, and no one deserves to be tortured to death,” she said, visibly moved.

The actress emphasized that the fight to permanently suspend bullfights throughout Mexico will continue until the goal is achieved.

“We will not stop fighting until this bloody ‘sport’ is canceled throughout Mexico,” she concluded; colleagues like Eugenio Derbez applauded her words.

The suspension of bullfights at the Plaza México had been achieved in 2022, under an injunction filed by the civil association Justicia Justa.
