The queen is married to a businessman named Nassif Kamle, dedicated to the textile sector in various South American countries.
Their wedding was a simple celebration as they decided to tie the knot during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This past Saturday, September 2nd, saw the selection and coronation of Miss Universe Colombia, held at the Puerta de Oro Convention Center in Barranquilla.
To succeed María Fernanda Aristizábal, the contestants from all over the country dazzled not only in their evening gowns and swimsuits but also with their responses during the question-and-answer round.
The judging panel included former Miss Universe, Andrea Meza; Tatyana Orozco, a Barranquilla-based entrepreneur and former Miss Universe judge; Jason Co, Chief Financial Officer of O Skin Care; Cesar Velilla, a medical and plastic surgeon; and Aysjel Antonia Bernadette Maria, director of Miss Universe Curacao.
The representative from the department of Casanare, María Camila Avella, now holds the title of the new queen of the competition.
Furthermore, she makes history as the second contestant who is a mother and married, competing for the Miss Universe title.
The first Miss Universe contestant who is married
From the beginning of the competition, Avella emerged as one of the favorites to win the crown.
Miss Universe updated its rules to allow the participation of diverse women.
Now, Miss Colombia is the second married and mother contestant, and thanks to her beauty, she is considered among the top favorites.
She is a social communicator and journalist who once served as a presenter on “Desafío” (The Challenge).
But undoubtedly, her greatest challenge as a model now comes as the Queen of Colombia, a position that not only guarantees her a crown and participation in Miss Universe but also takes her on a tour of Colombia to carry out charitable activities in line with the values of the competition.
