Four Latinas were honored with the Leading Ladies of Entertainment 2023
Four Latinas were honored with the Leading Ladies of Entertainment 2023 distinction, an initiative by the Latin Grammys that recognizes professional women and their achievements, as well as their social awareness in Latin art and entertainment.
The Grammy organization developed Leading Ladies of Entertainment, an initiative created to pay tribute to women who have made significant contributions and inspired the next generation of women leaders.
Becky G, Lila Downs, Selena Gomez, and Alondra de la Parra are among the women who have been honored with this recognition.
For this 2023, there are four women who are receiving the Leading Ladies of Entertainment award.
Among them is Róndine Alcalá, who has stood out as a representative and publicist for several internationally acclaimed artists.
Her first major opportunity came in 1998 when she worked for Luis Miguel during his “Amarte Es un Placer World Tour.”
Additionally, she has worked with other figures such as Alejandro Sanz, Shakira, Maná, Enrique Iglesias, Ricardo Arjona, Alejandro Fernández, Miguel Bose, Luis Fonsi, Natalia Lafourcade, and Julieta Venegas.
Simone Torres, a vocal producer from New York, is another honoree of the Leading Ladies of Entertainment.
She has been nominated for a Grammy and has collaborated with artists like Cardi B, Camila Cabello, Becky G, and Anitta.
At the same time, she is responsible for the Soundtrack Mixers project, a space focused on women and non-binary individuals.
Simone Torres is a producer with a long trajectory who has also created a platform for women and non-binary individuals aspiring to work in music production.
Ana Villacorta López is another woman being recognized by the Latin Recording Academy.
She is honored with the Leading Ladies of Entertainment award for her career at Sony Music Entertainment as Director of International Development and Vice President of Marketing and Promotion.
Among all the nominees, Ana has the longest trajectory, starting in 1981 with the RCA label, but it would be at EMI where she would find her place within the industry. Rocío Durcal, Julio Iglesias, Héroes del Silencio, Thalía, Fito Páez, Tony Bennett, Maná, One Direction, Vicente Fernández, and Joaquín Sabina are some of the artists Villacorta has collaborated with over the years.
But furthermore, the most popular among the women currently joining the exclusive Leading Ladies of Entertainment list is Mon Laferte.
“A four-time Latin Grammy winner with a deep social consciousness that led her to speak out during the 2017 Chilean elections.
“This diverse group of outstanding and successful women has made great contributions to Latin music,” stated Manuel Abud, CEO of the Latin Recording Academy, about the 2023 class of Leading Ladies of Entertainment.
