Netflix shared the trailer for Eddie Murphy’s return to the Beverly Hills Cop franchise with Axel Foley in the fourth film of the saga.
The Beverly Hills Cop release date was announced with a trailer, showing the crazy antics of Eddie Murphy, a cop who goes overboard in his security duties.
Officially titled “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F“, the film follows Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy), who is back in Beverly Hills.
After his daughter’s life is threatened, she (Taylour Paige) and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old friends Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) and uncover a conspiracy.
Streaming platform Netflix confirmed the release date for July 3, 2024.
Mark Molloy is directing the sequel, with Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser and Bronson Pinchot reprising their characters from previous installments.
Will Beall wrote the screenplay. Murphy also produces, along with Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films. Charisse Hewitt-Webster and Ray Angelic are executive producers. Co-produced by Melissa Reid of Jerry Bruckheimer Films.

Beverly Hills Cop Release Date Announced
The trailer and release date for Beverly Hills Cop has generated thousands of comments, showcasing a Murphy who has had a variety of performances throughout his career, but without a doubt, this is one of the most popular.
“Eddie is an amazing performer. He can do drama, he can do comedy, he can do anything. And he’s Axel Foley himself. He’s still on the streets. He’s still doing what he does. Obviously, as you get older you get wiser. But he still has the twinkle in his eye,” Bruckheimer said of the film.
The Beverly Hills Cop franchise moved from Paramount to Netflix in winter 2019 and follows the adventures of Detroit cop Foley, who first appeared in the 1984 blockbuster that followed him to Beverly Hills to solve the murder of a friend.
On the date of the first film’s release, it became one of the biggest hits of the year and solidified Murphy’s movie star status.
Two sequels followed, in 1987 and 1994.
The first film grossed $234 million at the U.S. box office, making it the highest grossing domestic release of 1984, and received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay in 1985.
So Eddie Murphy’s madcap antics will continue, and for pop culture fans it’s a classic not to be missed.
One of the most peculiar aspects is its soundtrack, which was popular at the time.
The pure instrumental melody “Axel F”, composed by Harold Faltermeyer, is very recognizable and has since been covered by numerous artists.
In fact, the soundtrack won a Grammy Award for Best Original Album Written for a Motion Picture or Television Special (1986).
For his part, Eddie Murphy has made a respectable return to film, reviving a career that seemed to have reached its ceiling with films like My Name is Dolemite (also on Netflix), A Prince in New York 2 and Christmas Street.
For Netflix executives, this classic deserved a revival, as did its performer.
