Approval rating of the President of Mexico in October: Maintains
The approval rating of the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, remained steady at around 60% over the past month.
Even though there have been mixed opinions in recent days due to the promptness of the response to the effects of Hurricane Otis in Acapulco, the public still leans more positively than negatively towards the administration.
The measurement of the President of Mexico’s approval has been made possible through the #AMLOTrackingPoll, which is a daily statistical survey regarding the approval or disapproval of Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s performance.
This instrument is conducted by Roy Campos’s Consulta Mitofsky for the newspaper El Economista.
According to Campos, it represents a digital measurement of public service performance. The instrument shows that, over the past month, approval reached as high as 60%.
For November 2nd, the approval stood at 58.1%, with 41.7% in disapproval.
At the end of October, the President of Mexico’s approval dipped to 56% after having reached 58% the previous month, while disapproval was at 43%.
Approval rating of the President of Mexico in October
October marks the third month with lower approval ratings for AMLO, as he had maintained an average approval rating between 57% and 58% since March.
President López Obrador started the year 2023 with an approval rating of 54%, as recorded in the surveys conducted in January and February of 2023.
Regarding the approval of the President of Mexico concerning his handling of the emergency caused by Hurricane Otis, there are mixed opinions.
When asked, “How would you rate the way the López Obrador government is handling the emergency caused by Hurricane Otis in Guerrero?”
- 39% responded “very good or good.”
- 37% responded “poor or very poor.”
However, when asked, “How would you rate the López Obrador government on the following?”
For “Preventive measures taken before the hurricane struck:”
- 28% responded “very good or good.“
- 51% responded “poor or very poor.”
- 6% did not respond.
- 15% responded “neither good nor bad.”
For “Actions to assist the population affected by the hurricane:”
- 43% responded “very good or good.“
- 39% responded “poor or very poor.”
- 3% did not respond.
- 15% responded “neither good nor bad.
