Another prediction for the Canelo vs. Charlo fight: ¿Does the Mexican not win?

Another prediction for the Canelo vs. Charlo fight has the Mexican fighter on the losing end, although overall, he remains the favorite.

The new opinion comes from Freddie Roach, who believes that the current version of Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez won’t defeat Jermell Charlo, and he also asserts that Charlo will knock out Canelo.

According to Roach in his prediction for the Canelo vs. Charlo fight, there are many doubts about the Mexican’s condition.

“Canelo has had an outstanding career,” said Freddie Roach in statements reported by Boxing Scene. But this initial praise was followed by a less flattering analysis of Saúl Canelo Álvarez.

“While I saw Gennady Golovkin winning the first two fights, I was impressed by the way Canelo defeated him.

If Charlo were fighting the version of Canelo from before the (third) Golovkin fight, I would see Canelo as the favorite. But that’s no longer the case. This version of Canelo won’t be able to dominate Charlo.”

Coach Roach believes that Jermell Charlo’s punching power will be even greater at 168 pounds than what he displayed at 154, which is why he predicts a knockout in favor of Jermell.

“Both can fight, but I believe Charlo will have punching power that Canelo won’t be able to absorb, especially at that heavier weight,” Roach warned.

Another prediction for the Canelo vs. Charlo fight

Expanding on his prediction for the Canelo vs. Charlo fight, Roach thinks that the Mexican fighter needs to stay away from Charlo’s left hook.

“But the question is, can Canelo stay away from Charlo’s left hook? I don’t think he can. That’s why I favor Charlo by stoppage. I can’t wait to see this fight,” Roach stated.

The coach also highlights the attitude that Jermell Charlo brings as a boxer, as it can provide him with psychological strength.

“I love the attitude that Charlo brings into the ring,” Roach said. “He’s mean, he’s challenging, and even better, he backs up that attitude with his talent.

You can’t intimidate him. He has a strong chin and isn’t afraid to take punches. Charlo is ruthless inside the ring.”

Roach is one of the most well-known boxing trainers in the world, having been voted Trainer of the Year by the Boxing Writers Association in 2003, 2006, and 2007.

He coached Manny Pacquiao and also trained Miguel Cotto. He is popular in Mexico for achieving the WBC Middleweight Champion title alongside Julio César Chávez Jr.
