Another journalist was murdered in Mexico, after he was kidnapped by subjects who had asked for ransom.
Another journalist was murdered in Mexico, Roberto Figueroa, a creator of content for digital portals.
Figueroa was found dead inside a car in the town of Coajomulco in Huitzilac, Morelos, where he lived. The event took place hours after he was kidnapped.
According to local media, the communicator was last seen around 7:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, after he took his daughters to school.
On his way home, armed men intercepted him and kidnapped him.
Around 8:30 a.m., Figueroa’s wife received a phone call demanding a sum of money to free Figueroa.
In this first contact, the murdered journalist in Mexico was put on the phone so that the family would know he was alive.
A second and third call was made by Figueroa’s captors. In the first call they insisted on collecting as much money as possible, while in the third they gave instructions to take the payment to a specific place.

In the same intervention, they assured that once the aforementioned steps were completed, they would leave the journalist and his car in Coajomulco, Huitzilac, a municipality bordering Mexico City.
In spite of this, although the instructions were followed to the letter, around 6:20 p.m. elements of the National Guard (GN), the Mexican Army and the state police located Figueroa’s lifeless body inside a white Ford Ikon car on a dirt road in Coajomulco.
It was reported that the journalist was handcuffed and had a gunshot wound to the head.
At around 9:00 p.m. on Friday, the government of Morelos issued a communiqué condemning the facts and demanding that the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) intervene in the case.

“The Government of the State of Morelos condemns the facts that unfortunately deprived the life of the reporter and content producer, Roberto Figueroa this afternoon. It calls on the authorities of the FGE to carry out the corresponding investigations to find the person or persons responsible,” it reads.
Additionally, they informed that the Commission for Attention to Victims will provide accompaniment to the family members.
Another journalist was murdered in Mexico, and it was learned that the young man had a degree in biology.
Roberto Carlos Figuera was a member of the portal Acá en el Show.
According to Proceso magazine, he studied biology at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (UAEM), but ended up working as a journalist.
It also notes that the day before his murder, on April 25, he went to the UAEM to participate in an event organized by Movimiento Ciudadano (MC).
He regularly dealt with corruption issues.
This death is in addition to the murder of the director of the digital media Portal Morelos, Manuel González, perpetrated in September 2021 in the state capital.
In February it was journalist Andrés Salas who was the target of an attack by gunmen which he survived, although one of his assistants was killed and his brother was wounded.
