Pole for Leclerc, and Checo Pérez in the Las Vegas GP will start in 12th position
Charles Leclerc secured pole position, while Checo Pérez in the Las Vegas GP will have to fight against the tide as he starts in 12th place.
On the other hand, champion Max Verstappen did not have a dominant night, to the point that he did not lead any of the qualifying sessions.
The top positions will have varied representation, and as a novelty, Logan Sargeant managed to break into the top 10 times, racing at home.
Remember that the Las Vegas GP 2023 F1 race will take place on Saturday night, specifically at 10:00 PM local time.
Charles Leclerc led throughout the Las Vegas GP 2023 F1 qualifying and showed a blistering pace that made him the first pole-sitter in the history of the Las Vegas Strip GP.
Checo Pérez in the Las Vegas GP: Ferrari’s Dominance
The Monegasque driver topped Q1 and Q2, and in the decisive Q3, he didn’t even need to improve his first attempt after Verstappen, unable to match the red cars, aborted his final lap.
Carlos Sainz showcased the prowess of the Maranello team and finished second, but he will start outside the points zone due to the penalty imposed on him after changing the battery following the incident with the sewer in Free Practice 1.
He will have to make his way up from 12th place, but Ferrari is proving to have the best car this weekend, and they dream that Leclerc will achieve his first victory of the year.
Checo Pérez in the Las Vegas GP must push hard if he wants to be the runner-up, as he will also be one place behind Hamilton, his direct rival, and the only one who can challenge him for that coveted second place.
Fernando Alonso squeezed the Aston Martin to the maximum to reach Q3, but in the final laps, he could not surpass any of his rivals and will start ninth, gaining one position with Sainz’s penalty.
Q3 turned into a battle between Ferrari and Max Verstappen, as Sergio Pérez and Lewis Hamilton were eliminated in Q2 after taking the risk of using only one new set of soft tires.
The McLarens also paid a high price for not using an extra set of softs in Q1, and both Norris and Piastri were eliminated in the early stages, at the bottom of the grid.
Williams had an excellent day and managed to qualify fifth with Alexander Albon and sixth with Logan Sargeant, just behind Pierre Gasly, who will start fourth.
Q2 was the most competitive, with Fernando Alonso improving towards the end, while Valtteri Bottas surpassed him.
But in the final attempts, Alexander Albon improved and knocked out Sergio Pérez, while Logan Sargeant did the same to eliminate Lewis Hamilton.
Alongside Hamilton and Pérez, Nico Hulkenberg, Lance Stroll, and Daniel Ricciardo were left out in Q2.
