MORENA party obtained absolute majority in Mexico

The MORENA party obtained an absolute majority in Mexico after the homicides carried out last June 02, 2024.

Not only did they win with the first female president in Mexico’s history, Claudia Sheinbaum, but they also won more governorships and congressional seats.

After experiencing the largest elections in history this past Sunday, June 2, 2024, the MORENA party won an absolute majority in Mexico.

These elections have been considered the largest, due to the historical growth of voters in the Nominal List, as well as the great electoral logistics of holding federal and concurrent elections in the 32 states of the Republic.

On this election day, 20,708 local and federal positions were voted.

The results are gradually becoming clear thanks to the Preliminary Electoral Results Program (PREP) of the National Electoral Institute (INE), which details the progress of the captured tally sheets.

In this sense, with the current information and if the preliminary results are confirmed, Morena and its allies PT and PVEM would govern 23 states and Mexico City.

This is undoubtedly conclusive: the MORENA party obtained an absolute majority in Mexico.

Left-wing governorships: MORENA party obtained absolute majority in Mexico.

They would be the following states under the leftist coalition:

  • Hidalgo
  • State of Mexico
  • Michoacán

  • Puebla
  • Quintana Roo
  • San Luis Potosi
  • Sinaloa
