Kansas City shooting investigation progresses
As the days progress, more details are emerging about the shooting in Kansas City at a Chiefs championship celebration.
Police are working to determine who opened fire and what prompted a shooting that killed one person and injured more than 20 citizens at the end of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory rally.
Dozens of fans dressed in red jerseys ran, took cover or tended to others on the ground as law enforcement invaded the area, with confetti still fluttering in the wind.
Before the shooting in Kansas City an estimated one million people had gathered within walking distance of Union Station in downtown Kansas City, Missouri, for the parade and celebration of the Chiefs’ championship victory on Wednesday.
The players were still on stage when chaos erupted with the sound of gunfire. Several people were shot, including children, authorities said.
Three people were arrested when officers arrived on the scene, according to Kansas City Police Chief, Stacey Graves.
Graves added that weapons were recovered at the scene, but did not specify how many. As of Wednesday evening, no charges had been announced and no suspects had been named.
