Frontal System 9 Leaves Mexican Territory, Improved Conditions Expected
Frontal System 9 is leaving Mexican soil and advancing over the Caribbean Sea, so it will cease to affect the nation on Thursday, November 16. However, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) forecasts an improvement in weather conditions for 19 states.
Contrary to the departure of Frontal System 9, temperatures of up to 40 degrees could be recorded. In the case of Baja California Sur, Sonora, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca (coast), Chiapas (coast), Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo, maximum temperatures of 35 to 40 degrees are expected, while in Chihuahua (southwest), Durango (west), Morelos, Puebla (southwest), and Tabasco, temperatures of 30 to 35 degrees are expected.
However, what remains of the cold air mass that accompanied Frontal System 9 will cause frosts and minimum temperatures of -5 to 0 degrees in the mountain ranges of Chihuahua and Durango, and in those of Baja California, Sonora, Coahuila, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, Guanajuato, Michoacán, State of Mexico, Mexico City, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, Puebla, Veracruz, and Oaxaca, the thermometer will mark minimum temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees.
In the Valley of Mexico, a day with a cool to warm atmosphere is expected, with possible fog banks and no rainfall forecast.
The National Meteorological Service indicated that Mexico City will have maximum temperatures of 24 to 26 degrees and minimums of 5 to 7, while in the State of Mexico, the maximums will be from 22 to 24 degrees, and the minimums from 1 to 3.
Also, the SMN reported that today, wind gusts of 60 to 80 kilometers per hour (km/h) are expected in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and waves of 1 to 2 meters high in the Gulf of Tehuantepec. In the southern Gulf of California, Baja California Sur, and Sonora, gusts of 50 to 70 km/h are expected.
Without the effects of Frontal System 9, precipitation will decrease in our country, although the National Water Commission (Conagua) reported in its morning report that heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Sonora, Oaxaca, Baja California, and Chiapas, due to a subtropical jet stream and instability at high levels of the atmosphere.
Also, some showers and isolated rains are expected in the states of Baja California Sur, Michoacán, Guerrero, Puebla, Veracruz, Tabasco, Campeche, Chihuahua, Jalisco, Colima, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo.
In all cases, the SMN warned that precipitation could be accompanied by lightning and possible hail.
