During the night of Wednesday 14 February, Nabila López Portillo reported the death of her mother, Sasha Montenegro.
According to initial reports, Sasha Montenegro died at the age of 78, after being hospitalised after suffering a stroke at her home in Cuernavaca, Morelos.
The incident occurred during the morning of this day and was derived from the cancer in the lungs that she was suffering from.
Sasha Montenegro passed away leaving fond memories among all those who shared with her.
Montenegro had her appearances in Mexican cinema during the seventies and eighties.

The Mexican actress was given emergency treatment after medical services were called.
Born in Bari, Italy, Sasha Montenegro adopted Mexico as her home from an early age, establishing herself years later as one of the most emblematic figures in Mexican cinema.
She also worked alongside other great artists and contributed to some of the most memorable Mexican film industry productions of the time.
It is worth remembering that his health was a cause for concern in the past, however, the cancer he was suffering from was not revealed until his death on 14 February 2024.
The artistic community, as well as her fans, expressed their condolences to Montenegro’s family, who expressed their gratitude for the expressions of affection and asked for respect and privacy during this difficult time.
Her real name is Aleksandra Aćimović Popović and during the 1970s she made her debut in Mexican cinema with the film, “Un sueño de amor”.
When her career was at its peak, she became romantically involved with former Mexican President José López Portillo.
In 1995 they married and since then her media appearances were fleeting and she gradually retired from film altogether.

Sasha Montenegro had a private life
Montenegro was considered a sober woman, elegant and dressed in black, Sasha never allowed herself to be seen in facades.
Due to her illnesses, the actress preferred to retire to her home in Cuernavaca, where she lived with her two children.
Her last television appearance was in May 2018, during an interview she gave to the programme Hoy, while supporting a friend at an exhibition.
Since then, she was never seen on screen again, no one, ever, had images of the artist again.
Montenegro was also known for being the widow of former president José López Portillo, who governed Mexico from 1976 to 1982.
The former president of Mexico, at that time, was still married to Carmen Romano and had three children, their divorce took until 1991.
By that time, Sasha Montenegro had already had López Portillo’s children Nabila and Alexander.
